Sorry to be so thick. I tried to create the file you mentioned above, saved it as a text file (it did not give me an option for a .scl file...do I need special software?) Anyways I tried to upload it, it took it but it does not show up as a user scale...no idea where it went to. I'm loving the ap but it is such a problem when I come across a note that is not in the scale proper, like the occasional C# or G# and i cannot play it. I'm really not totally incompetent but at this particular task, I guess I am. Any additional help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ok, so i found the Scala software and got my scale with the extra Gsharp in it. I tried to recreate another scale with an extra fsharp in it.This is what I did. I took out the 700.0 for the Gsharp and replaced it with 600.0 for an Fsharp. But when I transfer it to my iphone, it has an Fsharp but also a Gsharp. What did I do wrong?

For a C scale, F# is 600, G is 700, and G# is 800. Each half-step is 100 cents. So if you wanted a G in there instead of G#, just change your 800 to a 700.

Excellent! Thanks, I think

Hallo, after a while I have another question.
How can a Scala file named Armodue be found on the web and transported from the Scala archives into the app ?
I'm glad to see that the scales forum it's been visited so much.
Are you planning to give the chance of scale building inside TJ, as previewed, with the next release ?
Thanks

You need to download the scala file from the internet to your computer first. Then while your device is on wifi: Prefs->Wifi Transfer, then enable the server and type the URL displayed there into your web browser on you computer attached to the same network. You will see in the lower left part of the page where you can choose and upload scale files.

Yes, I do plan on putting in a custom scale editor, hopefully in the next release, but not guaranteed.

Can you please "traduce" in the right Thumbjam Syntax, the 16 edo scale that I figure down here, and let me catch it from wifi by my computer ? Very thanks, Tetraedro

Sure, I've attached the Scala file for that scale, you should be able to see how easy it is to make your own from that example.....

Hallo Jess, I've seen you put several equally tempered scales on list.
Can you put my two, naming it Eightone and Armodue (16 one) ?
Or, best, implement the scale maker on the next prog release ?
And, can you gently give us a list of programs for iPhone iPod and surtout iPad, where to can use Thumbjam as a precious midi Controller, via USB Bluetooth or Wifi ? Thank you.

I am implementing a scale

I am implementing a scale maker in the next version, but it may not be as powerful as you want it. As it is right now, the in-app editor only supports 12-tone scales, although you can fine-tune the temperament or fine-tune each note manually.

I've also fixed the bug where user-imported scales get deleted sometimes... are you having that issue?

I don't understand your last question, are you asking for other music apps that can be controlled with midi?
