Post by ElectricAlienCat »

I thought I'd get onto that ThumbJam youtube action...

No thumbs were used in the making of this video!

Of course the faster bits are easier, that's when TJ does all the work and you just move your hand randomly :)

Nice video, looking forward to the duel!

I want to see a "dueling banjos" vid too, with TJ banjo against a real acoustic guitar, live with two people.

I just discovered a new toy

Post by ElectricAlienCat »

I just discovered a new toy (which I've used before but never tried it with Thumbjam) which makes me sound (a tiny bit) like Steve Vai (the legendary virtuoso)! If you know of Mr. Vai you might guess what I'm talking about.

Will make a video to demonstrate, can't wait to show you, though hopefully I'm not taking anything away from playing a real guitar/instrument by trying to emulate one ;-) I play guitar but can't get to the speed or technical level than what I can with TJ. I guess I'm touching on a philosophical debate, on one hand the app is great for people who have no musical knowledge or skill (and also for those who do have!), but at the same time you don't want to discourage people from learning a traditional instrument just because it's easier to use your ipod instead.

Excellent quality, what tool is this? Did you import samples in ThumbJam to play it or did you record it directly in TJ?

You'll see in the video

You'll see in the video coming... but to get this exact sound you need more than Thumbjam :-(

Another teaser...

All backing instruments (samples from my Roland Keyboard) played in TJ except for drums.

The guitar is played in TJ (extra fx done elsewhere!)

Cool, so is your external FX the distortion or the filter or both?
