Been a resurgence of uke music recently - Jack Johnson's influence, I'm sure. (also uke-genius Jake Shimabukuro)
Lots of big retailers (Guitar Center, Musicians Friend, Sweetwater, etc) are selling ukes again. How 'bout a nice simple ukulele - a tenor size would be a good choice since you could scale up or down to get anything from a soprano to a baritone)?
