Auto record, the light way

As started on another thread but with a divergent need, continuous auto record would be very cool to have. A reminder on my thoughts (with additions) about a possible interface:

My view on it is that there is no real need for this auto-record/save for ideas on the go to be linked with loops. That would impose too many troubles in terms of available length, start and stop, etc... And would end up either not saving that brilliant performance or idea or automatically chop it the wrong way most of the time. Also, why should it use ram? That's a strong limitation.

What I would see is a save to disc function just as session record is, but only for the current instrument. This would be started with a toggle near the Session Record toggle. It would stop whenever any other recording function is hit. And be replaced as soon as the dedicated disk space is full (the start of the save file being gradually replaced and so forth...). When you want to have access to it you would go to a specific menu (accessing menus would pause the auto record anyway) and choose what you want to do with it: listen, save (to session for example), even transform to loop from a chosen point, there the loop length options could be multiples of the original main loop...

As usual, hope I was clear... Again...

Starting another thread was my POLITE way of not interfering in your discussion of YOUR need. If I don't give a damn about someone else's request I usually live it alone. Whatever....

BTW, I wont go back to your own thread to say it, as I didn't want to interfere with your discussion with Jesse over your original idea (damn polite me), but just to be clear, my way of seeing it did not use any PC whatsoever and I don't understand how you missed my point. Again maybe wasn't I clear enough...

Hope I have been CLEAR this time and that I don't behave like an ARSE.I would hate that.... It would probably make me take chill pills or something....

Cheers
