<r>I really second the piano key tint for the colors, or maybe even blending this scheme in to some extent: <URL url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:%27Klaviatura%27_drawn_by_Ivan_v._3.svg"><LINK_TEXT text="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:%27Kl ... n_v._3.svg">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:...

I look forward to the next release more than ever now. Jesse, you deserve serious props for this app already, but that would make it indispensable.

Mesopotamian temperament
I've been tinkering with ratio-based scales and writing scripts to generate them, and I'd like to gift the forum with a set of scales based on the temperament and modes presented at Light Bridge Music. I am not the owner of that site or the author of the article and credit is due them, but I believe...

<r>Gary, the Scala format is extremely simple. It's just a header, ! at line beginnings to denote comments, and tones listed either as ratios of integers or integer/floating numbers representing cents. A few examples:<br/> <br/> <br/> ! persian-far.scl<br/> !<br/> Hormoz Farhat, average of observed ...

<r>Alternate scales are a very diverse world. Do you want Indian scales? Arabic and Turkish? Persian setar? While you could cover some exotic western scales by saying that C# is a quarter-tone up from C and Db is a quarter tone down from D, you'll still get people piping up about "Sa Re Ga". Sure yo...

I'm really interested in just intonation for specific projects and think Thumbjam can be a great tool for putting it together. Check out http://www.bazantar.com and this video here: http://vimeo.com/11290879 The guy went on a quest to create a sympathetically strung upright bass that synthesized Wes...

Foot pedals?
So what would it take to be able to set up bluetooth foot pedals up to handle loop or effects control in ThumbJam? I often marvel at the sprawl of electronica that musicians haul around these days, and I think it would be brilliant if iPads and iPods could offer a more compact setup.

<t>Personally, I'd love to have alternate note input interfaces. I play cello and guitar, guitars in either standard or DADGAD tuning, and I'd love the option to define a string-style fingerboard for input as an alternate setting. That might be some feature creep, but I'd rather be doing this in Thu...

<t>How about taiko drums?<br/> <br/> Also, how about documenting the SampleSet format for us, or have an import function for a ZIP of wave files? I'd be glad to, for example, record a sampleset of my twelve-string guitar. I bet you this app will gather an enthusiastic community willing to help round...
